Hendricks County Rib Fest - Round 3

Anyone who knows Bryan knows that the way to his heart is through food, especially good BBQ, which explains why our county’s rib fest has become a favorite family tradition. This year we had a new member of the family to enjoy it with which made it all the more special. It is a very well organized event. You purchase meal tickets for $1 each and then go to any tent of your choice operated by different BBQ restaurants around the county and pick up the food you want. The average pulled pork sandwich is $5 and those seem to be our favorite things to try from the different places. You get to experience the different ways these BBQ masters cook their pork and we also enjoy savoring their various sauces. The local Kiwanis club always sells elephant ears and each year we have to share one of those loaded with cinnamon. If you haven’t had one yet you need to try one.

The festival starts at 5pm and ends with fireworks at 10pm. With more experience under our belt after each passing year, our Rib Fest experience gets better and better! We like to get there right at 5pm so we can set up our blanket in a nice shady area under some trees, and we are sure to bring along a cooler of drinks and snacks so none of our Rib Fest bucks are wasted on these necessities! By arriving early, we beat the long lines that Bryan has little patience for when he is trying to get something to eat. This year we stayed for about 2 hours eating, playing with Brooklyn, and enjoying the live bands that were on stage. As always - it was a great time.

Just as long as you didn't try to get Brooklyn to eat bbq in her first year of life... she seemed happy that you were enjoying it though. What a cool event. Love, Aunt Gail
